MARKET'S HISTORY

In the heart of Rome, between the Roman Forum and the Mouth of Truth, there is the market Campagna Amica’s Market at Circus Maximus on Via di San Teodoro 74: a meeting point for producers and consumers. At this market, there are more than 60 farms with products locally produced, guaranteed, safe and quality products for direct sale and grown or raised directly by the same producers behind the stands.

Inside the market, you’ll find the “Sigilli di Campagna Amica” that indicate products saved from extinction thanks to the work of farmers – such as the Atina cannellini bean, the Pontecorvo pepper, the Onano lentil, and the Columella Caciofiore. In the market, there is a wide selection of fruit, vegetables, cheeses, dairy products, oil, fish, bread and baked goods, cereals, flours and pasta, fresh fruit, legumes, oils, fresh meats, cured meats, honey, preserves, fresh milk, plants, and flowers, and much more.

Every Saturday and Sunday, the “Cuochi Contadini” (Farmer Chefs) offer new dishes based on tradition. You can eat in the outdoor courtyard where food trucks prepare typical street foods: fried fish, vegetable soups, porchetta sandwiches and barbecued meat.  In addition, the Campagna Amica marked offers activities for both adults and children, with educational workshops, cooking classes, tastings, and exhibitions on typical foods.

There is no shortage of charitable initiatives such as the Spesa Sospesa, an aid for all with economic difficulties.
